BIM and Digital Tools for State-of-the-Art Construction Cost Management

Cost overrun has remained a key risk of construction projects that can be prevented by utilizing new technologies. This paper aims to identify the gap in literature, which potentially addressed using digital tools and technologies, reviewing current state art practices. The presents results systematic critical content reviews on cost overruns, address question what factors are affecting overrun. also how building information modeling (BIM) conjunction with other tools, such as common Asia Pacific regions, used for estimation monitoring. review, including their contributions limitations, set directions future investigations. A total 176 papers was identified develop management (CCM) dataset. method mix reviews, co-authorship network analyses, co-occurrence analytical map development covering 5671 keywords, analysis theme identification review selected papers. critically reviewed 63 from CCM, divided into four clusters based scopes: BIM adoption quantity surveying; implementation bill quantity, paths, overruns; control management; and, finally, BIM, virtual design, value management. trend 16 themes (e.g., 3D model, Decision, Energy, Life Cycle) all over past ten years developed. each cluster frequency cluster. gaps were identified, so investigations presented.
